Kazuo Yamaguchi ，現為芝加哥大學社會系教授。其專攻領域包括社會學方法、人
口學、社會流動及階層化研究，以及日本社會及勞動市場。在其社會學統計方法研
究方面尤以對事件歷史分析（event history analysis）之研究聞名，並著有專
書。Yamaguchi 教授近年來除在量化方法學上持續進行發展與研究，亦將研究興趣
擴張到與日本社會中家庭及勞 動市場變遷相關議題之實證研究，本年度起並獲
Abe Fellowship 獎助至日本進行為期九個月的訪問研究，期對日本近年來勞動市
場
、社會流動及女性工作與家庭的快速改變作詳盡的研究分析。
Yamaguchi教授之著作遍及各知名社會學期刊，近年發表的著作包括2000年
在American Journal of Sociology上刊登之 ”Multinomial Logit Latent-Class
egression Models: An Analysis of the Predictors of Gender-Role
Attitudes among Japanese Women”，同年在Rationality and Society上發表的
"Rationality of Initiators and Rationality of Threshold-Based Behavior
of Followers in Collective Action: Insight From Non-Expected Utility
Models” 及於International Journal of Sociology 上發表的 ”Gender-Role
Attitudes of Married Women and Social Stratification: Commonality and
Differences Between Japan and the United States” 等等。
