課程大綱(初稿) Special Topics in Sociological Theory: Social Capital 社會資本 國立清華大學/國立台灣大學 社會學研究所 2004年春天 林南(Nan Lin, nanlin@duke.edu) 陳志柔(jaychen@sinica.edu.tw) 上課地點:中央研究院社會學所 上課時間:2/16(第一次上課分別於台大及清大進行) 5/31-7/23,週一&週五 10:00-13:00 Synopsis of Course Content: The course will explore (1) the theories of capital and theories of social capital, (2) the empirical work on social capital, (3) linkages between social capital and instrumental and expressive actions, (4) new directions for theoretical and research extensions of the theory. Reading Assignments: Students are expected to read and report on original and synthetic contributions in the literature throughout the course. Presentations and Term Papers: Students are expected to write a series of short papers throughout the course and to write a term paper focusing on one theoretical area with synthesis, critique, and proposed propositions. Grade will be based on participation in class discussions, presentations of papers, and mastery of literature and innovative ideas as reflected in the term paper.
