Michel Wieviork為國際社會學會的現任理事長，也是法國社會科學高等學院的社會學分析
與介入中心(the Centre d'Analyses et d'Interventions Sociologique, CADIS)的主任。
Wieviork承師Alain Touraine，以〔社會學介入〕(intervention
sociologique)的方法，研究法國的反核運動、學生組織及波蘭Solidarity民主工運。他的
研究對暴力、恐怖主義、社會運動、種族主義、多元文化等領域具有獨特的貢獻，聞名全球
，其專書《恐怖主義的形成》於1989年榮獲歐洲Amalfi社會學與社會科學獎。
