Rangers sign Ryan Freel to Minor deal The Rangers have signed veteran utility player Ryan Freel to a Minor League contract and assigned him to Triple A Oklahoma City. He was released on Aug. 13 by Kansas City. Freel played for three teams this season, including the Orioles and Cubs, and hit .193 with no home runs and five RBI in 41 games. Freel has played in 594 Major League games over nine years, most of them with the Reds, and has a .268 batting average and 143 stolen bases.
