After all the hype and anticipation, it seems Justin Smoak has arrived in the major league to early after all. Numerous Texas fans have made comparisons between Smoak and Chris Davis and they all came to a conclusion that Smoak is not any better than Davis, both offensively and defensively. I guess it's always hard to defend someone whose batting average was 0.165. Yes, he did draw some walks but that doesn't really help much considering his below-average speed and the batters immediately behind him. I am not sure if someone had told Smoak to be more aggressive at the plate but seemingly he was being more aggressive. The result wasn't good. Many have cast doubt on the need for him to bat as a swich hitter, since he could barely hit right-handed. I do miss Davis, and I won't feel sad if Smoak is to be sent down. Unlike Washington, who showed faith in Smoak's swing, I see inability to adjust to big league pitches when big league pitchers have adjusted to his swing rather effectively. I don't believe he should give up his swing on the right side, however. It wasn't a bad swing. It's the overall struggle that accents the meager batting average when Smoak bats right-handed. -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 72.77.109.91
