General manager Jon Daniels and club president Nolan Ryan confirmed that
infielder Michael Young has requested a trade.
* The Rangers said they will try to accomodate him but it must be in the best
interests of the team.
* Young intially had agreed to be the Rangers DH but has since had a change
of heart and wants to go somewhere where he can play regularly on defense.
* Young has a list of eight teams he is willing to be traded to and has not
veered away from that list. The Rangers are dealing with those eight teams,
which have not been made public.
* The Rangers still say that Mitch Moreland is going to be given "every
chance" to be their everyday first baseman.
* Ryan said he's not sure if the Rangers will be willing to absorb part of
Young's salary to facilitate a trade. It would depend on the trade.
