ARLINGTON – The Rangers officially placed 1B Mitch Moreland on the 15-day DL
on Friday with a significant left hamstring strain. Rangers officials said
Moreland would miss 4-6 weeks with the injury.

While Hamstring injuries are notoriously tricky to gauge, the minor injuries
usually require about 2-3 weeks of recovery time. To announce a minimum of
four weeks suggests a more significant strain.

Moreland was replaced on the 25-man roster by RHP Roy Oswalt, who will start
Friday’s game against Colorado. Oswalt’s contract was purchased from
Triple-A Round Rock. The Rangers will still have to make a corresponding move
on the 40-man roster to create room for Oswalt.
