Real Madrid Close In On Raul Albiol - Reports
Valencia might have refused to sell David Villa to Real Madrid so far this
summer, but it appears they are willing to sell them another of their prize
assets.
Raul Albiol is apparently close to a move to the Bernabeu and Marca sources
claim talks are now at an advanced stage.
The central defender is one of the most highly-rated in the country and it is
thought that Manuel Pellegrini is keen to bring him in.
The Chilean coach is yet to see any defensive cover arrive at Madrid and
Albiol would be an ideal signing to bolster the ranks.
It is thought that he would cost Madrid around €15 million, a price that
compared to those for Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo seems small.
Albiol himself is currently away on international duty with the Spanish
squad in South Africa and may well play a part in the semi-final against the
United States tomorrow.
The 23-year-old has come up through the ranks at Valencia and has played over
100 times for the first team in his five years there.
He is not the first Che player to be linked with a move to Madrid this summer
but it seems as though both David Villa and David Silva will now be staying
at the Mestalla after all.
