Real Madrid Ready To Sell Christoph Metzelder To Besiktas
Christoph Metzelder’s sojourn at the Bernabeu may be coming to an end,
with a move to Turkey on the cards…
Christoph Metzelder looks set to be on his way out of Real Madrid, with Marca
reporting that a deal has been struck with Besiktas to take the German
centre-back to Turkey.
The Spanish newspaper has reported that the 28-year-old has agreed a three-year
contract with the Turkish champions, where he will link up with fellow Germans
Fabian Ernst and Michael Fink.
Metzelder joined Los Blancos two years ago but injuries have rather hindered
the impact he has been able to make at the club.
Any transfer will depend on a suitable fee being agreed between the two clubs,
but that shouldn’t prove to be a great difficulty as Real are looking to
offload up to ten players before the start of the new season.
According to Marca, the former Borussia Dortmund defender fears that not
playing regular first-team football next season will seriously damage his
chances of making it into the German squad for the 2010 World Cup in South
Africa next summer.
The arrival of Raul Albiol from Valencia for €15 million has only further
hindered his chances of a regular starting berth.
