Second straight year in which the IFFHS votes for Iker Casillas

The IFFHS (International Federation of Football History and Statistics) gives
awards the the best players in the world each year. Iker Casillas has won the
Best Goalkeeper award again this year, defeating Buffon (Juventus), Julio Cesar
(Inter Milan), Van der Sar (Manchester United) and Petr Cech (Chelsea).

The Real Madrid goalkeeper received votes from a jury spread throughout 84
countries.

Casillas was also acknowledged as the year's best goalkeeper by FIFA and he
has been chosen as one of the members of the UEFA Team of the Year 2009, which
will be announced on 20 January.

At 28, Casillas has won several national and international titles with Real
Madrid: 4 Spanish leagues (00/01, 02/03, 06/07, 07/08), 3 Spanish Super Cups
(2001, 2003, 2008), 2 Champions Leagues (99/00, 01/02), 1 European Super Cup
(2002) and 1 Intercontinental Cup (2002).

The goalkeeper is also the captain of the Spanish national team and lifted the
Euro 2008 trophy when they won the title in Austria. He became the tournament's
least scored-upon keeper. He is the third most capped Spanish player with 101
matches, behind only Zubizarreta (126) and Raul (102).
