C: Varitek/Mirabelli is set... Shoppach will get a few callups. Still has
trouble making contact but defense is pretty good and plate discipline
is there.
1B: I'd like to see John Olerud brought back for a 1-year deal. He showed
last year he could still hit pretty well (109 *OPS+), and is still one
of the best receiver's at 1B. He obviously can't play everyday...
I did a little checking: Mike Lowell actually was decent against lefties
last season, despite being complete shiite overall. A Lowell/Olerud
platoon? We'll see
2B: Graffanino SHOULD be back for a 1-year deal. He was a plus bat last year
and was good defensively, but ultimately Pedoria will take over at 2B.
Machado will be the backup I think. Pedoria needs some more time at AAA
SS: We're stuck with Rent.
3B: If Kevin Youkilis does not start fulltime, I will be angry angry angry
angry angry angry angry. In 343 PA's in the majors over the past 2 seasons,
he has hit .265/.376/.411. This guy needs to get in the lineup everyday,
hitting in hopefully teh second spot.
RF: Trot Nixon had surgery in teh offseason, so he might improve on last
season's performance. His defense was actually pretty bad last year, but
I hope the surgery will improve that.
TROT NEEDS A RIGHT HANDED PLATOON PARTNER. Everytime I see Trot hit against
a lefty I want to kill a puppy with my bare hands.
CF: I'd like to see Johnny back, but Scott Boras actually demanded 8/96
. I aint messing with you guys. We offered a 3/30 deal, one i can definitely
live with. Anymore than that we'll be seeing Bernie Williams in centre for the
Red Sox in 2009
The Fat F!@# for Otsuka/Roberts trade is one I like, and one we shoudl do
regardless of Damon's decision. Roberts is aging (33), but he's got a pretty
good OBP, cheap, good in CF, and fast. Even if he doesn't play everyday he can
pinch-run for our corner OF's and be a defensive sub.
LF: I'd like to see them NOT trade Manny Ramirez. What could POSSIBLY happen
if they DON'T trade him?
What's he going to do, not show up for work?
擺爛? He's -47 UZR in LF NOW. HE CAN'T GET WORSE.
Every trade offer I've seen for Manny involves Darin Erstad and
Steve Finley. A pissed off, drunk, and stoned Manny Ramirez is better than
Darin Erstad and Steve Finley
Rotation:
Schilling Beckett Clement Arroyo Wakefield
Schilling - We need 2004 Schilling badly
Beckett - A pretty damn good young pitcher, but...
1) Blister Problems, has never cracked 200 IP
2) NL -> AL.. that's turned out wel
3) Marlin Stadium is an Extreme Pitcher's Park...
Clement - Gotta stop him from dying in the second half. OF course, him
getting beaned in the head with a line drive didnt' help.
4) Arroyo - My god was he bad last year. The peripherals just dropped off
the roof.
5) Wake - our best pitcher last year. He did a good job, but really just
a sign of how krappy our pitching was
Bullpen:
Timlin - NEVER. EVER. PUT. HIM. ON. WITH. RUNNERS. ON. BASE.
Bradford - He could actually pitch a few more innings... he could pitch 50-60
IP no problem, no need really for him to be ROOGYed
Foulke - Dont' know if he's fixed or not.
Ryan - We should make him our #1 priority in the offseason.
Papelbon - This guy's the real deal folks; We should use him in high-leverage
situations, which means he shoudl be the fireman.
Myers - LOOGY
Ideally, I'd like to see Ryan as fireman #1 and Papelbon as fireman #2, but
Ryan wants to close otherwise he won't sign, so we'll have Ryan Close,
Papelbon as fireman, Timlin to eat an inning every couple of days, Bradford
some more innings, and Myers remain the LOOGY. I'm not sure what we'll do
with Foulke... if he's fixed, him as fireman #1 would please me a great deal
Delcarmen IMO is not major
league ready: A small sample size I know, but he walked 7 guys in 9 innings
int eh majors last year. Needs a littlemore work. Hansen should also start
the year in AAA but might be called up soon.
Roster:
CF Roberts/Damon
3B Kevin Youkilis
DH David Ortiz
LF Manny Ramirez
C Jason Varitek
RF Trot Nixon/Platoon Partner
2B Tony Graffanino
SS Edgar Renteria
1B John Olerud/Mike Lowell
Bench:
Platoon Partner
Dave Roberts
Mike Lowell
Doug Mirabelli
Alejandro Machado
Pitchers:
Schilling Beckett Clement Arroyo Wake
Relievers:
Ryan Timlin Foulke Bradford Myers Papelbon
25個人
We need to get that platoon partner for Trot folks.
(Btw... if that rumour where we can flip Lowell for Baker and Romero is true...
I'll be a happy man)
