1. Derek Lowe in 2004: BELOW FUCKING REPLACEMENT LEVEL.

2. Orlando Cabrera: Was actually offered arbitration. Renteria actually
had better career offensive stats than Orlando, and was "regarded" as a good
defensive SS. Little did we know he'd stink up the joint.

3. Pedro Martinez: AT THAT TIME, Giving Pedro Martinez a 4th year seemed
like a bad idea, w/ the medical records ofa  90% torned labrum and whatnot.

4. Jason Varitek: I was against the deal at the time, but if you compare his
contract to the contract of say Ramon Hernandez, I'd say it doesn't look
that bad.

Saber folk hate giving 30 year old catcher long term deals. Has looked good
so far, just like the Pedro Martinez has looked good SO FAR.
