EARLY RELIEF
With another save on Sunday, Jonathan Papelbon tied the Red Sox record for
saves in any calendar month by a rookie, done once previously by Jeff Gray in
1990. The right-hander currently leads the Majors in saves this season and
needs just three more this month to tie the all-time record set by rookies
during the month of April:
