SAN FRANCISCO -- If the Red Sox make it to the World Series,
the first two games will be played in Fenway Park.
如果紅襪打進世界大賽 前兩場會在芬威打
The American League secured home-field advantage in the Fall Classic with a
5-4 win over the National League last night in the All-Star Game,
and the Red Sox had a little something to do with it.
美聯在全星星賽裡保衛了主場優勢 紅襪也有些貢獻
There wasn't much thunder from Messrs. Ortiz and Ramírez.
Manny pinch hit in the third and flied to right.
Big Papi reached on an error and lined to right.

Meanwhile, Josh Beckett, Jonathan Papelbon,
and Mike Lowell made significant contributions.
Beckett was the winning pitcher, hurling two innings of one-hit ball.
He retired Barry Bonds on a fly to left and gave up a cheesy double to
Jose Reyes. He also struck out a pair.
Lowell singled in his only at-bat and cruised home on a two-run pinch-hit
blast by Cleveland's Victor Martinez.
Papelbon did what he does best. He pitched one inning and fanned a pair of
batters, including Aaron Rowand on a
95-mile-per-hour heater. He gave up a bloop single.

making his first All-Star appearance. "This could be a huge thing for us
if we get that far. Having four out of seven games in Fenway Park --
having that home-field advantage, that would be huge.

but I'll take that outing every time. I just threw strikes and let them try
to hit it."

It was strange to see Papelbon in the eighth, but AL manager Jim Leyland was
saving the ninth for J.J. Putz.
The plan backfired when Putz surrendered a two-run homer to Alfonso Soriano.
Leyland still had Frankie Rodriguez available for a heart attack save.
Hideki Okajima did not pitch and was the only Sox representative
who did not get into the game.

"I was probably the calmest guy on the bench at the end," said Papelbon.
"I knew Frankie could do it. For me, that's the comfort zone."

Lowell singled on an 0-and-1 pitch and finished the game at third base.

"This was a fun experience," said the veteran.
"Standing out there in the ninth, I got a little anxious,
but I just didn't want a tie game.
Guys have flights and we could run out of pitchers and you just don't want
that situation. But I had a great time.
It was great getting a hit and then I just let the wheels take over."

"The first pitch was a changeup and he showed bunt and
everybody got a little chuckle," said Beckett.
"Then I threw a fastball away and he fouled it back.
Then another fastball away and he hit it to left.

然後另一顆速球出去 他又把他打到左邊”
"I vultured that win, but I'll take it. As far as what this means,
well, we have to get to the World Series first before talking about that."
