BOSTON (AP)—The Boston Red Sox placed World Series MVP Mike Lowell on the
15-day disabled list Thursday, one day after he sprained his left thumb
diving for a ground ball.

波士頓紅襪隊今天將世界大賽獲得MVP殊榮的Mike Lowell放入15天傷兵名單，
原因是在處理一顆滾球過程中，造成左手大拇指扭傷。

“I was a little disappointed waking up this morning because I thought I’d
feel a lot better,” Lowell said after the Red Sox beat the Detroit Tigers
12-6. “I’m kind of in limbo. I’m not really so sure.”

他對於這個情況感到有些失望

The Red Sox purchased the contract of infielder Jed Lowrie from Triple-A
Pawtucket to replace Lowell on the roster. After the game, manager Terry
Francona said reliever Bryan Corey would be designated for assignment to make
room for reliever Mike Timlin to come off the DL on Friday.

從3a叫了Jed Lowrie暫時取代Lowell的守備位置，賽後總教練Francona說將會把
後援投手Bryan Corey DFA，因為大叔Tim Lin星期五就要從DL名單回到球場了，
所以必須清出Rotation的空間

Lowell was injured on the first at-bat of Wednesday’s game when he fielded
Ivan Rodriguez’s grounder and threw him out. X-rays were negative, but he
showed up at Fenway sore on Thursday and was sent for more tests.

Lowell 是星期三處理I-Rod的第一個打席時不慎受傷並讓他因此而提前退場。
X光反應出來的結果是Negative，但是還必須等待更多的檢查來確定他的傷勢。

“We wanted to allow him to show up and see how he felt,” Francona said. “
There was concern he would be very stiff and sore, which he was.”

Lowell said he would keep his hand in a splint, a black removable cast that
goes halfway up his forearm, for three to four days. But he said he was
optimistic that he would be able to play when he comes off the DL in two
weeks.

大致上講了他的治療方法，他說預計兩週後就會重返球場打球了。

“I’m frustrated because I’m not going to be able to play for a little
while,” Lowell said. “But they thought at first that it might be 2-4 weeks,
so 15 days is kind of the best case scenario.”

他說對於暫時不能夠為球隊出賽感到沮喪，但是預計這樣的狀況應該會缺陣2-4週
15天算是一種相當好的狀況之一。

Lowell was batting .200 while starting the first nine games at third base.

開幕戰到現在擔任三壘手的九場比賽，Lowell的打擊率是0.200，

Kevin Youkilis, who came up through the minor leagues as a third baseman but
earned a Gold Glove at first last year, moved back across the diamond on
Thursday. Sean Casey played first.

Lowrie, the team’s minor league offensive player of the year last year, went
1-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Pawtucket in a day game Thursday.

Also Thursday, Francona said backup infielder Alex Cora felt a twinge in his
elbow and needed to be examined.

也是在星期四，總教練說替補的內野手Alex Cora感到手肘刺痛，也將會一併安排檢查。
