The New York Mets added some outfield depth after Friday’s 7-1 victory
over the Texas Rangers, acquiring Trot Nixon from the Arizona Diamondbacks
for cash or a player to be named.
A veteran of 1,081 major league games, Nixon has spent this season with
Class AAA Tucson of the Pacific Coast League, hitting .309 with 10 home runs
and 31 RBI in 58 contests.

A career .275 hitter with 136 blasts and 554 RBI, Nixon provides some
much-needed insurance in the outfield for New York, which has placed both
right fielder Ryan Church and left fielder Moises Alou on the disabled list
over the last four days.
