The Red Sox made a few temporary roster moves, likely for tonight's game
only, to replace Justin Masterson and Adam LaRoche. Pawtucket righthanded
reliever Marcus McBeth and Double A Portland outfielder Josh Reddick will be
available tonight.
McBeth has compiled a 2.28 ERA and held opponents to a .176 batting average.
Reddick, a breakout hitter during spring training, is batting .277 with a
.520 slugging percentage and 13 home runs. At 22, Reddick will become the
youngest player to wear a Red Sox major league uniform this season straight
from Double A.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Sox placed Daisuke Matsuazaka on the
60-day disabled list and designated Travis Denker designated for assignment.
