Strength improving slightly in Wakefield's leg, pitcher on track to start tomorrow 3:11 PM Sun, Sep 20, 2009 | Permalink | Write the first comment By Dan Barbarisi Email this author | Email this entry Tim Wakefield remains on track to start Monday, and the strength in his problematic left leg is actually improving slightly. Wakefield demurred when team trainers wanted to test the strength in his leg Saturday, but they pressed the issue, and the reading actually came out positive. "He didn't know if he wanted to know the number, just in case it didn't improve -- and the strength did improve, so that's good," manager Terry Francona said. Wakefield, 43, is trying to pitch through a herniated disk in his back, which is putting pressure on the sciatic nerve and sapping the strength in his left leg. He is expected to require surgery to repair the bulging disc at some point. The fact that the tests are showing some improvement at this point is a promising sign, as it was entirely possible that the results would have returned a gradual decline in strength, perhaps requiring him to skip the Monday start. "As long as he's showing some improvement, let alone staying the same, that's really good news," Francona said. Wakefield, a first-time all-star, has an 11-4 record and a 4.22 ERA on the season. Wakefield is not expected to remain in the rotation after his outing , and his spot start will serve largely as an off-day for the rest of the rotation, allowing some other starters an extra day of rest 明天可能跳過先發(?),但是之後要開刀解決坐骨神經痛的問題。 -- 老魏加油!!! -- ※ 發信站: 批踢踢實業坊(ptt.cc) ◆ From: 120.105.88.127
