[紅襪] Lackey lands on DL with right elbow strain

BOSTON -- Red Sox right-hander John Lackey, who has struggled mightily of
late, was placed on the 15-day disabled list just minutes before Monday
night's game against the Orioles with a right elbow strain.

The move was made retroactive to Thursday and takes Lackey out of his
scheduled start Tuesday against the Orioles.

The Red Sox haven't named a replacement yet, but knuckleballer Tim Wakefield
is the most likely choice.
Wakefield has already made two spot starts this month. The righty hasn't
pitched since Wednesday, meaning he would have plenty of rest if he's not
needed out of the bullpen on Monday.

For the season, Lackey is 2-5 with an 8.01 ERA. In his last two starts, he
has given up 19 hits and 17 runs over 10 2/3 innings. Most recently, Lackey
took a 9-3 loss to the Blue Jays, giving up nine runs and nine hits over 6
2/3 innings.

After that start, Lackey mentioned that "everything in my life [stinks] right
now, to be honest with you."

Veteran reliever Scott Atchison was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket to
replace Lackey on the roster.
