Red Sox Call Up Veteran OF Scott Podsednik From Triple-A

Boston recalled Scott Podsednik Tuesday, as the Red Sox continue to search
for healthy outfielders.

Podsednik batted .323 (10-for-31) with one homer and two stolen bases over
his first nine games with the PawSox. He had been acquired by the
Philadelphia Phillies earlier this month.

The Red Sox outfield has been decimated with injuries this season, with Cody
Ross (foot) and Ryan Sweeney (concussion) the newest to be placed on the
disabled list. Carl Crawford also hasn't played in 2012, and Jacoby Ellsbury
has missed time.

Podsednik, 36, hasn't appeared in the majors since 2010 as a member of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. He is a career .279 hitter over 10 major-league seasons.
