Reds signing Gary Matthews, Jr.
New York Mets reject Gary Mathews Jr. is talking to the Cincinnati Reds
about a minor-league deal, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
"It's not done yet," Reds assistant general manager Bob Miller told the
paper. "It will probably get done."
The 35-year-old got released by the Mets last week after hitting .190
with one RBI in 36 games.
Last year, he had a .250 batting average for the Los Angeles Angels of
Anaheim and banged in 50 RBIs and put four balls over the fence.
