HOUSTON -- After surpassing the midway point of the preseason, the Rockets
moved a step closer to finalizing its regular season roster.

Rockets general manager Carroll Dawson revealed Thursday that the team has
waived forward/center Matt Haryasz.

Haryasz, 22, played in two preseason games at center, where the Rockets
already have Yao Ming, Dikembe Mutombo and Juwan Howard. Second-year forward
Chuck Hayes has also played center in certain situations.

After signing with Houston following a solid summer with the Rockets' summer
league team, Haryasz averaged 3.0 points and 3.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes of
action.

The Rockets now have 18 players and must reduce the roster to 15 prior to the
regular season.
