The Charlotte Bobcats waived veteran point guard Brevin Knight today in a
move that will save the team about $2.5 million next season.
A source familiar with the situation told the Observer the Bobcats are
exercising a buy-out clause in Knight's contract. The team will pay Knight
about $1.5 million to avoid a salary in excess of $4 million that Knight
would have received for the 2007-08 season.
It's unclear how the Bobcats will replace Knight as the backup to starting
point guard Raymond Felton. The Bobcats did not get a point guard in
Thursday's NBA draft.
