The Rockets might have been fooled by the glory of their one-game winning
streak. Or perhaps, they checked out the Wizards’ five wins before reaching
Houston, remembered their thrilling fourth-quarter comeback in Washington and
assumed they could pick up a win Monday as if the Toyota Center had a
drive-through window.
火箭隊八成是被光榮的"一連勝"給愚弄了。
要不然就是瞄了一下巫師本季戰績:五勝，
然後又想起之前在華盛頓那個莫名其妙的第四節逆轉勝，
想說今天應該可以贏球，

Either way, the Rockets were right. Someone just had to show up to leave with
a win. But it turned out to be the Washington Wizards.

The Rockets took their worst loss of the season, falling 89-87 to the Wizards
(6-23) with the sort of performance that inspired Rockets coach Rick Adelman
to rip, “We got what we deserved.”

The Rockets began the night with a half Adelman called the worst of his 224
as Rockets coach and ended it with another offensive crash. Following 0-for-9
fourth-quarter stretches in each of the previous two games, the Rockets ended
the night making one of nine shots, with Yao Ming’s baseline jumper to force
overtime clanging away with 1.9 seconds left.

road losing streak) began crashing down, however, long before a
fourth-quarter rally stalled and the Rockets managed two points in the final
4:42 against a team 28th in the NBA in opposing shooting percentage.

The Rockets had their fewest second-quarter (14) and first-half (36) points
this season, and needed a fourth-quarter run with most of the starters on the

“I don’t care what their record is,” Adelman said. “They won their last
game. The game before, they had Cleveland beat at Cleveland.

After making five of 17 shots to start the game, the Wizards made 24 of their
next 44 to take a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter.

really backfired on us,” said Tracy McGrady, who returned after missing
Saturday’s game to score 15 points with six rebounds and seven assists.

Artest, who blamed his six turnovers for the loss, had 11 points in the
fourth-quarter run, 16 of his 20 in the second half.

Luis Scola, who made seven of eight shots, including all five in the second

The Rockets even got the stop they needed, with Artest cutting in front of
Dominic McGuire to steal Juan Dixon’s pass with 11.9 seconds remaining.

Yao launched a turnaround on the baseline from 10 feet, but it bounced away,
dropping Yao to 4-of-14 and the Rockets to a stunning loss.

easy game and played without energy and passed the ball to out of bounds
without reason. The fourth quarter, we made a run, but we should have played
better than tonight. For many reasons, I need to play better than tonight.”

The Rockets could hardly play worse, and paid for it.
火箭絕不能再比今天更糟，並為此付出代價了。
