The Rockets probably did not celebrate Saturday night. Other than whatever
happiness they had for old buddy Rafer Alston, they likely did not see any
connection between Magic victory, advancing them to the NBA Finals, and
themselves.
在禮拜六當晚，火箭應該是不會因為魔術幹掉騎士而辦什麼慶祝活動啦。
除了為老戰友--街球王--感到高興之外，
魔術挺進總冠軍賽是關我們屁事阿?

This could, however, be a good sign.
但我眉頭一皺，
覺得這可能會是一盞明燈。

A big man has won big. At a time the league seems to be legislating them out
of contender status, a center is the best player on the best team of the
Eastern Conference. And don't confuse the Magic's triumph for a Cavaliers
failure. The Magic were the third seed in the East, but in head-to-head
matchups with the presumed Finals teams, they won four of five games against
the Cavs and Lakers. Companies that produce sneakers and flavored water might
be shocked, but others should not be.
有隻怪物他殺很大。
在這個聯盟不太想讓大個子奪冠的年代，
東區最好的球隊的最棒的球員居然是個中鋒。
不要再對魔術幹掉騎士這檔事感到百思不解了，
雖然他們只是東區第三種子，
但在季賽與騎士還有湖人的五場正面交鋒中，魔術可是贏了其中的四場。
那些賣球鞋啦賣鮮果純水啦的公司應該是會被嚇到啦，但我們不應該對此感到任何意外。

As much as the Magic collection of 3-point shooters gave the Magic a matchup
advantage that the Cavaliers could not solve, Dwight Howard makes the Magic
work. If he could take a team to the Finals, it seems fair to wonder if this
means Yao Ming can, too.
在東區決賽中，正是魔獸的存在，讓騎士對魔術的三分雨攻勢完全束手無策。
如果魔獸能把他的球隊帶到總冠軍賽，
是不是說咱們的姚明也辦得到呢?

After Howard destroyed the Cavs on Saturday, it also seems impossible to not
wonder how Yao has managed to dominate this guy.
在魔獸徹底摧毀騎士後，
我們不禁回憶起姚明在季賽是如何打爆魔獸的...

Howard has always been thought to be just beginning to tap his potential. It
is possible that no one has played the Dwight Howard that the Cavs faced. He
might be improving with every post-season game. The playoffs have a way of
speeding the process, something the Rockets missed all those years barely
visiting the post-season. But the fact remains that the Rockets are the only
other team truly built around their center and their center has dominated the
Magic center.
大家都認為魔獸才剛開始挖掘他的潛力而已。
這個系列戰騎士所遇到的魔獸是前所未有的強大。
他在季後賽是一場比一場更厲害。
季後賽的戰場可以讓一個球員成長得更快，
但是火箭近幾年的季後賽不是沒打到就是沒打幾場就提早放暑假去了。
不過事實擺在眼前，
火箭是唯一另外一支圍繞中鋒打造的球隊，而且我們的中鋒還打爆魔術中鋒喔。

If the Magic can do it, does that mean the Rockets can, too?
魔術隊做到了，這是否意味著火箭也可以勒?

To be like the Magic, they might need to collect another 3-point shooter or
two. They probably need to improve their depth and of course, find a stand-in
for Yao.
要弄得像魔術這樣的話，我們首先要搞來一兩隻三分射手，
然後要加強板凳深度，當然，還得幫姚明找個備胎。

For now, the idea of building around a center no longer seems an anachronism.
The Rockets did not celebrate. They will have to earn that. But they could
feel pretty good about what Orlando has done.
現在看來，圍繞中鋒來打造球隊似乎也不是啥落伍事。
火箭不會慶祝魔術晉級。
我們也要努力爭奪冠軍。
但不妨看看魔術目前的表現，照他們這樣做下去好像也還不賴。

The Magic success also offers a reminder of why Yao Ming needs to stay in the
low blocks. There's nothing wrong with an occasional jumper. It has to remain
the exception, rather than the rule. There's no reason to turn him into
Zydrunas Ilgauskas.
魔術的成功又再一次提醒了火箭：姚明得要待在低位。

難道你們想看到姚明變得跟大Z一樣嗎?

The more difficult decision still seems to be whether signing Ron Artest is
the right move to be the primary off-season move. Hedo Turkoglu (he has an
early termination option), Mickael Pietrus, Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza will
be Finals free agents to be at the position.
咱們眼前還有一個大難題：揪竟該不該續留阿泰?
火槍兵(有球員選項)、法國喬丹、喇媽還有阿里扎
都是打進總冠軍賽，且即將恢復自由身的球員。

The Lakers will likely never let Ariza go. The Magic will have a tough time
signing Turkoglu, but a tougher time letting him leave. Artest fits well with
the Rockets, with an ability to be a complimentary player and also to take
over at times.
湖人不太可能放掉阿里扎。
魔術應該會跟火槍兵慢慢盧，不過要是火槍兵真走了那魔術來年大概也沒戲唱。
阿泰跟火箭其實還滿合得來的，他打得很不錯，關鍵時刻也能挺身而出。

Still, it's something to consider when the Finals begin.
當總冠軍賽開打，還有一拖拉庫的事要煩惱...

Shaquille O'Neal's "Master of Panic" smack should have been dismissed as
quickly as if he said it to a Labrador. Stan Van Gundy had said that O'Neal
flopped, so naturally O'Neal did what he always does, and trash talked back
like a child on a playground.
嘴砲王大歐的"恐慌大師"說早該被當成他是在跟一隻拉不拉多狗喇賽來看待了。
大范甘迪也說大歐是因為提早放假沒事做，只好發揮嘴砲王的能力，
就像球場上的小屁孩在互相鬥嘴一樣。

He does this all the time, and the shot at Van Gundy came during a week he
also ripped Chris Bosh, Dwight Howard and others. But for some reason, his
comment about SVG was treated as if he was revealing something from the
inside.
大歐愛屁話你也不是不知道，在一個禮拜內，繼對暴龍王Bosh以及魔獸放砲後，
他把砲口指向了大范甘迪。
但不知怎地，他對大范甘迪打的砲居然被當成是在揭發某些不為人知的隱情。

He was just making noise. That should have been obvious then, and has become
obvious since, with the Magic reaching the Finals by repeatedly coming back
from the toughest of losses, and so often executing better under pressure
when other teams panic.
他真的就只是在打嘴砲而已。
在魔術藉由不斷從失敗中站起，而且在其他隊早就挫賽的壓力下仍能夠保持執行力
而終於挺進總冠軍賽後，大歐的言論，很明顯的，只是一樁美麗的誤會。

The Rockets seem pretty serious about their intention to find a draft pick.
After their week at the draft combine in which players wondered why a team
with no draft pick was interviewing them, the brass heads to Minneapolis for
the Timberwolves' workouts.
火箭似乎是很認真的想弄來一個選秀權。
在被試訓的球員都對被一個沒選秀權的球隊試訓感到莫名其妙的集體試訓後，
火箭派人去灰狼的訓練營觀摩觀摩。

They have had this arrangement with the Wolves the past few years. They get
to attend the Wolves workouts and Minnesota executives come to Houston for
theirs. For the Rockets, it offers a chance to check out draft prospects that
would never give a private workout for a team with a late first-round pick,
to say nothing of a team with no pick at all.
我們跟灰狼最近幾年都是這麼幹滴，我們的人去明尼蘇達勘查，
然後灰狼的人也來休士頓找能看上眼的新秀。
對火箭隊而言，這種作法讓我們有機會去看看只握有第一輪末段選秀權的球隊
試訓不到的潛力新秀，更不用說是像我們這種連選秀權都沒有的球隊了。

Either that, or Daryl Morey is just trying to make the scouts feel important.
要麼就是這樣，不然就是莫神只是想讓球探感覺其重要性。

Still no word from LeBron James. He decided to pout, rather than congratulate
the Magic or answer questions from the media.
小皇帝連嗝都沒打。
他決定擺出一張衰小臉，而不是祝福魔術或是回答媒體的提問。

It is easy to complain about the NBA's and especially it's sponsors'
determination to promote stars, rather than teams. But it's just business, as
the ratings records set and broken throughout the past month seem to
indicate. Still, it will be interesting to see how the Finals do without the
Kobe-LeBron showdown.
大家都在批評聯盟，尤其是贊助商吹捧球星個人表現而非團隊的舉動。
但這就是商業嘛，看看過去這一個月，電視轉播收視率還打破歷史紀錄勒!
接下來應該會滿有趣的，我們來看看沒有"皇帝戰飛俠"的總冠軍賽會變得怎麼個樣子。

Then again, not everyone wanted to see Kobe-LeBron.
我再重申一遍，並不是每個人都想看Kobe對決LeBron這齣劇本的。

Perhaps Cleveland and other long-suffering sports cities should not assume
success, and just let it happen.
也許克里夫蘭，還有其他在職業運動沉淪已久的城市不該對成功有過度的意淫，
他們應該順其自然才是。
