As an avid Giants fan for about 16 years now, I was disturbed and

disappointed by the selection of Jeff Fassero. He has posted a 4-15 record
with a 5.55 ERA and 1.63 WHIP [walks plus hits divided by innings pitched]
over the past two seasons, and a 5.52 ERA and 1.61 WHIP over the past six!

Sabean loves veterans, and the 42-year-old Fassero fits perfectly. He also
had a great spring -- 2-0 record and 1.80 ERA over 10 innings -- and is
expected to be used sparingly in short relief. He's in excellent shape and is
a crafty pitcher.
