04/06/2006 7:15 PM ET Giants surge past Braves San Francisco wins home opener on strength of big inning By Rich Draper / MLB.com SAN FRANCISCO -- Giants starter Noah Lowry was taken out of Thursday's game in the second inning with a right lower back strain, but San Francisco scored six runs in the third inning to win its home opener against the Atlanta Braves, 6-4, at AT&T Park. Reliever Jeff Fassero (1-0) was the winner, as he allowed three runs over 3 2/3 innings, including back-to-back homers by Brian McCann and Braves starter Jorge Sosa (0-1) in the third. Pedro Feliz ripped a three-run double and Ray Durham a two-run single in the Giants' big rally. Giants relievers Tyler Walker and Scott Munter threw scoreless ball, then Tim Worrell earned his second straight save in the ninth despite giving up a homer to Brian Jordan.
