New interest in buying Lazio

An Italian-Canadian businessman has announced that he is ready to buy the
majority share in Lazio.
Carlo Baldassarra, who has built a housing empire in North America, says he
is very interested in saving his club.
"I care too much about Lazio," said the 63-year-old millionaire. "I want to
help them out of this crisis. I would hate to see them end up as another
Fiorentina."
The capital club have been put up for sale after Cirio’s financial problems.
The food giant, who won 51 per cent of the club, is in serious threat of
bankruptcy and is looking to sell assets in a bid to save the business.
Baldassarra is the second person to express an interest in the Biancocelesti
so far. He follows Saadi Al Gheddafi, who is assessing whether to cough up
the ￡160m needed to complete the purchase.
Baldassarra has lived in Canada for the past 44 years but is originally from
Veroli near Frosinone.
Local Press reports claim that the businessman has already made contact with
Lazio officials but is looking for a partner who could run the club for him.
Speculation suggests that he is ready to inject close to ￡200m into the
outfit immediately if his bid proves successful.
