Veteran striker Marco Simone has revealed that he is on the verge
of signing for Italian giants Lazio.

"The Lazio directors contacted me a few days ago and made me an
interesting offer," said the 34-year-old.

"I told them that I was ready to accept the transfer. Now I'm just
waiting for Monaco to agree to the sale."

The capital club have been looking for a new forward after they
released Enrico Chiesa to Siena last week.

The Biancocelesti were thought to be chasing Udinese's Roberto
Muzzi but it seems as if they have opted for the former Azzurri
player instead.

Simone is well remembered in Serie A after he was signed by Milan
from Como. The Varese-born striker spent eight seasons at the San
Siro before he moved to Paris SG in 1997.

Simone, who recently spent a spell back on loan at Milan, has rarely
featured for Monaco lately after a misunderstanding with boss Didier
Deschamps.
