Lazio Back In For City Target Amelia
Lazio have reactivated their interest in Livorno goalkeeper Marco Amelia.

Reports this morning had suggested that new Manchester City boss Sven-Goran
Eriksson was considering yet another Calcio import, and looking at Marco
Amelia to solve his goalkeeping problems.

On the back of that comes the news that Lazio have also come back in.

After being linked with Amelia last month, they seemed to have switched their
attention towards River Plate number 1 Juan Pablo Carrizo, but that deal
seems to have run into heavy weather given the player's non-EU status.

Coach Delio Rossi is still looking for Angelo Peruzzi's replacement, and has
stepped up his interest in Amelia again.

It remains unclear if they the Biancocelesti will be able to compete
financially with Manchester City if it comes down to that, but they seem to
be counting on Amelia himself wanting to move to Lazio.

Amelia picked up a minor knock in the friendly against AEK Athens yesterday,
but is expected to be fit in a few days.
