Lotito's on Zarate mission
Lazio chief Claudio Lotito has flown to Qatar to try and negotiate the
permanent signature of Mauro Zarate.
The Argentine ace arrived on loan from Al Sadd last summer and has been one
of the revelations of the season.
Zarate fired Lazio past Juventus and into the Coppa Italia Final last night
and Biancocelesti supremo Lotito has been spurred into action for a permanent
deal.
“I am off to Qatar,” Lotito declared on Radio Radio this morning. “I want
to bring back a result just as my team did yesterday.”
“Now there are lots of offers on the table for Zarate after his brilliant
season in Italy,” a statement from Al Sadd reads.
“But after the agreement with Lazio last summer prior to his loan, they will
have first refusal for a transfer.
“However, Zarate's qualities will allow the club to ask for a high price for
his services.”
Lazio may have to pay more than ￡10m for Zarate and there are reports that
Liverpool are waiting to pounce should Lotito fail to seal the deal.
