Living The Competition
Bari are one of six Serie A clubs in the table to have garnered eight points
from six matches. This means that the Galletti are just three points above
the relegation zone but three behind second-placed and Italian champions
Inter.
Such is the competitive nature of the Italian top flight that last season's
surprise package Bari are likely to struggle against the drop this campaign.
Which means that every point counts and that winning at home is imperative.
Bari have yet to lose at the Stadio San Nicola this season and have won two
of the three fixtures in front of their own supporters. However, Giampiero
Ventura's side have struggled for goals as they have found the net on just
six occasions this season but have conceded nine times.
Flying High And Wild
Lazio are flying high in the sky as they start Week Seven of Serie A in sole
control of the pole position. The Aquile have picked up 13 points from six
matches and have not lost since their opening weekend defeat to Sampdoria in
Genoa.
There's real belief in the Lazio unit that this season they could resurrect
themselves and become great again. The former Italian champions battled
against relegation for much of last season and although there is skepticism
on whether Edy Reja's side can genuinely challenge for the Scudetto, their
impressive start means that they will be expected to fight for a top four
place at least.
The Aquile have won their last two away games in the league, first defeating
Fiorentina in Florence and then getting the better of Chievo in Verona. A win
against Bari is expected but it will be interesting to see how they play
after the international break.
TEAM NEWS
Bari
Raggi is unavailable for Bari, who will line up in a 4-4-2 formation. Barreto
and Castillo will be the two main strikers upfront. D’Alessandro and Kutuzov
will start on the bench.
Lazio
Meghni, Matuzalem and Cavanda are out injured. Floccari will be the lone
striker upfront in a 4-2-3-1 formation that will see Hernanes as the
creator-in-chief with Brocchi and Ledesma supporting him from the deeper end
of the midfield. Zarate and Mauri will flank Hernanes in the a three-man
attacking midfield system.
