Rebounds, defense still plague Sixers

While he said after Monday's two-hour practice that he has contemplated making
a move, King doesn't want to overreact.

The Sixers completed an 0-3 road trip by losing to the Hornets on an offensive

They have dropped seven of their last nine, including six straight on the road,
yet are still tied for first with the Nets in the awful Atlantic Division with

The Sixers are second in the league in scoring with a 102.2-point average, but

Samuel Dalembert, who tweaked his strained right quad against the Spurs, is

"If I knew the answer... ," said King, who didn't finish the sentence. "I think
it is effort. If you look at it, I think our starters are averaging about 33
rebounds out of our (39.8) total, so the guys on the bench have to increase
their productivity.

The Sixers reportedly have considered bringing in free-agent forward Darvin Ham
and, to a lesser extent, George Lynch, but don't think Ham is much of an
upgrade over what they already have and are convinced the 35-year-old Lynch, an
ex-Sixer, doesn't have much left.

much and is only under contract for this year at $1.035 million. The Raptors'
Eric Williams is another blue-collar guy who would help at the defensive end,
although he is making $3.9 million this season, with a $4.3 million player
option for 2006-07.

Notes: King confirmed that the Sixers had been fined by the NBA for their
players wearing game shorts that hung to their knees. The culprits were
believed to be Allen Iverson, Chris Webber and Kevin Ollie.

"Yeah, we have the personnel," Cheeks said. "[Saying we don't] lets people off
the hook. We've just got to go out and do it. Whoever's in there has to go do
it. It can't be something that they're just conceding because you don't have
this big rebounder, this great defender. Everyone out there on the floor has to
be able to do it.

As for Dalembert, he didn't practice Monday, but planned to try his knee today.

unlikely to be on the 12-man roster unless the team suffers at least one injury.
