Still, Iverson defended Salmons.

"I wanted (the ball), but I can live with whatever my teammates do on the

trust that if I don’t take a shot, then they’re gonna do something positive
with the ball. At the end, John got a lot of opportunities and they were shots
that I would want him to take in those situations, and they just didn’t go
down. I trust him to be able to make those shots. Chris (Webber) got the last
shot. I told him before the play that if both of the men went with me, I knew
they were gonna be keying on me, then get to the basket. He got a good shot
off, a jump hook right in the lane that he’d been making all game."
