Maurice Cheeks meant what he said. But when asked yesterday about Andre
guodala's defense, he didn't say exactly what he meant.

Maurice Cheeks的話一向都很明瞭，但是昨天當他被問到有關Andre Iguodala
的防守，他並沒有說的很明確。

The 76ers coach, appearing on Comcast SportsNet's "Daily News Live," said
Iguodala will be "one of the premier defenders in the league when he grows up."

這位七六人總教練在Comcast SportsNet的Daily News Live節目上表示，
「Iguodala球技成熟之後，會是聯盟裡頭號防守大將之ㄧ」。

"I meant that this is only his second year," Cheeks elaborated later, before
the Sixers imploded in a 110-102 loss to the Utah Jazz. "You get a lot put on
you as a rookie and as a second-year player. He has had to guard some major
offensive players. When you have to guard Dwyane Wade, LeBron James, Kobe
[Bryant], that's a lot to put on a rookie or a second-year player.

Since Iguodala arrived last season as the No. 9 overall player in the NBA
draft, he has had to defend the opponents' best wing players. In a league in
which one-on-one defense is monstrously difficult, he has the most success when
the necessary help and quick, correct rotations behind him have been there.

自從Iguodala上季在NBA選秀以第九順位加入七六人之後，他就負責看守對手最好
的鋒線球員。在一對一防守是極度困難的聯盟裡，他很成功地快速填補球隊的缺點，

Some games, nothing matters. Some games, such as Friday night, when the Bryant
dropped 48 for the Los Angeles Lakers, nothing works. Bryant was explosive,
knocking down all seven of his three-point attempts.

Last night, the Jazz simply was painfully resolute. Iguodala began the game
against the 6-9 Andrei Kirilenko, who finished with 23 points. He spent some
time against former Sixer Matt Harpring, who had 14. Between them, they shot
14-for-21.

Whatever Iguodala thought about any of this remains in question. He left the 
locker room without speaking to reporters.

"Some guys can be beaten down; I don't think [Iguodala's] one of them," Cheeks
said. "I think he's a very confident player. He knows he can't 'stop'
tremendous offensive players; but [even if they're scoring], you can play well.
I thought he did a decent job on Kobe; Kobe got into that rhythm of scoring.
There's not much [Iguodala] was going to do to stop him, no matter what he did."

Cheeks說：「有些人會被擊倒，但是Iguodala不會是其中之ㄧ。我認為他是很有
自信心的球員，他知道他無法完全堵住頂級的進攻型球員，即使對方得分了，
你還是可以守好。我覺得他對於Kobe守的還不錯，只是Kobe抓住他得分的節奏了，
要阻止他，不管Iguodala做了什麼努力，還是很難守住」。

Iguodala is a solid 6-6, with long arms, quick hands, good strength. He thrives
on filling as many columns in the box score as he can. That means steals,
assists, rebounds and points. He didn't get much done in that area against the
Jazz, scoring nine points, taking two rebounds and managing four assists and a
steal.

六呎六吋的Iguodala有結實的身材，瘦長的雙臂，靈敏的雙手，還有很好的身體強度。
他盡可能朝著各項能力發展。他可以抄截、助攻、抓籃板和得分。但是對上爵士

"He uses his arms and hands well, gets his hands on a lot of balls," Cheeks
said. "That allows him to get the steals he does, to bother a lot of players."

Having the comfort of defensive help behind him is a factor. That, needless to
say, hasn't been there very much recently.

"The players he's guarding, there's a lot of attention on them anyway," Cheeks
said. "He's guarding the best player [among the opponents]."

Iguodala has said that, when the time comes to be a key scorer, he'll be ready.
Does he have the same mentality offensively that he has defensively?

"The other night [against Seattle], he did," Cheeks said. "He doesn't have the
mentality where he's going to score 25 every night. On some occasions, he's a
very aggressive offensive player, taking the ball to the basket. Some nights,
he's not. As he gets older, as he becomes more mature in his offensive game,
he'll feel more comfortable [with that]."

Cheeks說：「那一晚對上西雅圖的比賽，他做到了。但他還沒有具備每場要拿下
25分的心態。有些時候他是名很積極的進攻球員，把球放進籃框裡，有時候他不是。
當他老練些，更加成熟些，進攻方面，他會得心應手」。
