The 76ers were leaving Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine yesterday
as reporters were just arriving. With the blessing of coach Maurice Cheeks,
rather than practicing, they were going as a group to play paintball. Before
clearance was given for that information to be disseminated, it was being
referred to as "a team function." It was coming on the heels of back-to-back
losses in which they had not functioned.

昨天記者才剛剛到達費城骨科醫學大學的時候，七六人們已經離開了。托教練

The players were involved in what would have to be described as a bonding
session. They were off in search of solitude, distraction, something to help
them clear their minds and allow them to focus on their problems on the court.
They had been blinded by a 28-point loss Monday in Washington and an 11-point
loss that was really much worse than that Wednesday to New Jersey. They had
been yelled at by their coach for 27 minutes after losing to the Nets. They had
been sho/twn the tape in an instructional, classroom setting yesterday morning.
It remained to be seen whether anyone could really show them the way.

"We talked about a few things [yesterday]," Cheeks said. "We made a lot more
teaching points on film that we would've gotten done on the practice floor.
Actually, our mood was very upbeat. Sometimes after a game, you can look at a
game and it seems so much worse. Then, after you analyze it, what I said to
them is, it's not as bad as it seems. You've got to correct a couple things
here and there. You've got to get some positive energy in there."

Cheeks表示：「昨天我和球員們談了一些事情，看著球賽的錄影帶可以指出更多

Wednesday night, there had been some of the pride-and-honor rebelliousness that
can come from an athlete after an emotional loss.

"I don't mind being blamed for anything," Chris Webber told Comcast SportsNet.
"Allen [Iverson] doesn't mind being blamed for anything. That's the reality of
the situation, so if anybody has something to say about our young guys, you
start by saying it's my fault. I'll take any and all responsibility. I've been
in that position before. I let it wash off my back... So, no, if anything's
going wrong, it's my fault; it's Allen's fault."

Chris Webber告訴Comcast SportsNet說：「我不會在意任何的指責，Allen也不會。

Webber referred to Cheeks' comments to the players Wednesday night about taking
a challenge and playing with heart as "very relevant."

"You can't teach heart, and you have to take a challenge," Webber said. "It's
that simple. You have to take a challenge, and we're going to do that. At the
end of the season, or when we start to accomplish some great things, I just
don't want to hear people that weren't with us, because we're going to change
this around. It will not continue."

「用不用心是教導不來的，但你必須接受挑戰，事情就是這麼簡單。當球隊

Later, Webber said, "I'll put everything on the fact that we're going to be OK,
and anybody that says we're not, great. Just don't love us. It's that simple...
We want to win, and we're going to do that. Nothing's easy in life, and it's
going to feel so much better at the end when everybody acts like they knew it.
We're going to be all right. You can write that down."

Yesterday, Cheeks insisted that "it's trying to utilize the pieces that we
have."

"If there's a rebound, you've got to go get the rebound," he said. "If there's
a defensive stop, we've got to do a better job of getting a defensive stop, or
moving the defense up the floor, denying a pass here and there. That's not
always replacing this guy and replacing that guy. That's not always it.

someone; whatever's in there, that's in there. But I've got to keep harping on
it, going to get it. As you keep saying it, and you keep trying to teach that
part, it becomes a part of [things]. But I can't teach what's inside of
someone.

tougher hand... They're getting a stern and hard hand, but you've got to do it
in the right way."

Cheeks said he had no problem with the leadership being provided by Iverson and
Webber.

"This is a team; this is not just Allen and Chris," Cheeks said. "You go
through some rough times, and then rough times will be better, because we've
worked through this... Things get a little magnified, and sometimes they
should, and you have to put more importance on certain areas, and that's what
we've done. I believe our focus will turn around in those areas."
