SEATTLE - It is an NBA custom. Whenever a team travels from one coast
to the other to begin a long road trip, the routine is to guess how
many wins the team will gain before it returns home.

In the case of the 76ers, who began a three-game Western swing last
night against Seattle at KeyArena, one victory surely isn't enough.
Two wins are acceptable. Three are necessary.

With 19 games remaining and the playoff chase still one mad scramble,
victories are a must.

ahead of Chicago, the ninth-place team in the conference, and 11/2
games behind No. 6 Indiana.

The Sixers have not been able to finish games all season. In their
last two defeats, they led by double digits late in the third quarter
and faded in the fourth, scoring 14 fourth-quarter points against
Denver and 12 against Toronto.
