Year In Review: Steven Hunter

Steven Hunter had his best season as a pro last year, beating his personal
best marks for every category except games played, free throws attempted and
made, and blocked shots. He did particularly well when inserted into the
starting lineup and closed out the season strong with 5 out of the last 6
games contributing double figure points. His back to back double-doubles on
11/21 & 11/23 also proved to be a high point in the season, coming at a time
where the Sixers were getting beat up on the boards.
去年是 Steve Hunter 生涯最佳的一年，除了出場次數、罰球出手次數及命中、
火鍋數以外每項數據都是生涯新高，他球季的最後幾場比賽進入先發名單並且有

Other than a successful 4-in-5 game stretch in mid-March, and starting out
the season with 3 double figure games in the first 4 contests (both while
starting for Dalembert), he was unable to sustain any consistency to provide
the Sixers with the inside threat they needed. For a 7-footer, Hunter is a
woeful rebounder. He shoots a Shaq-like 60% from the field and 50% from the
line. His best offensive weapon is a dunk, although he does have some moves
around the basket.

The low point in the season came when he was traded to the Hornets on 1/31,
and then the Hornets rescinded the trade over health concerns and returned
him to the Sixers on 2/8. He proceeded to play through whatever health
concerns they had to finish the season here in Philadelphia. Due to HIPPA
regulations, I cannot tell you why. Actually, I do not know but thought it
would be good to blame it on HIPPA. You’ve gotta love all those forms you
have to sign at the doctor’s office. All this just to turn my head and
cough! Maybe Steven turned the wrong way, who knows?
本季對 Hunter 來說最低潮的莫過於 1/31 被交易到黃蜂，然後黃蜂居然以健康
因素作梗反悔，在 2/8 把他丟回來。即使不知道黃蜂所指的健康因素為何，Hunter
還是得在費城繼續打下去。由於 HIPPA 的規定我沒辦法告訴你為什麼。事實上，

The only reason NO/OK made the move to acquire Hunter was because they lost
Chris Andersen, who was dismissed from the league for drugs the week before.
I can’t tell you which drugs because, well…you know:) There’s a good
article here by Phil Jasner on the trade that determined the signing of
Hunter must have been a mistake and quoting Billy King as saying “it didn’t
work”. Jasner says that Hunter couldn’t rebound the way they hoped he
would. Looking at Hunter’s track record should have clued them in that HE
NEVER WAS A GOOD REBOUNDER, EVER!
唯一有可能讓黃蜂想得到 Hunter 的原因是他們失去了 Chris Anderson 這位因為

Well, Billy found out another thing that didn’t work - this trade. Then he
had to make things work with Hunter. After that, Steven played much better.
This should tell King something else about sticking with a situation and
working through it rather than bailing on it. He’s done it with Iguodala,
Korver, Dalembert, and Green.
好，當 Billy 發現連交易也行不通時，他開始想辦法讓 Hunter 發揮他的作用。而
自從那件未完成的交易之後，Steven 也打得更好了。這件事應該告訴 King 有些時
候應該多堅持一陣子並且想辦法突破困境，而不是就此放棄。他已經這樣對待過
Iguodala、Korver、Dalembert 和 Green。
What we’ve found out doesn’t work is Billy King as GM. Steven Hunter is not
going to change the fate of your basketball team, but he’ll compliment the
team well and give you another big man with the athleticism to cause problems
offensively and defensively. You still need help on the boards, but having
Hunter in your rotation brings depth upfront that can give you an advantage
against most teams slower centers. He was the best free agent big man
available when they let Marc Jackson go, with Dale Davis and Christian
Laettner as the best alternatives. Even though I think he got this one right,
Billy King’s waffling on trading Hunter and then having him return shows me
that he doesn’t know how to solve the mess the Sixers are in or even where
to start. I’m wondering now if Hunter wishes he signed with another team.
我們真正看到行不通的人是 Billy King。Steven Hunter 不會改變這支球隊的命運
，不過他能夠融入這支球隊並且給你一個運動力十足、可以在攻守兩端有點貢獻的
長人。你仍然需要籃板方面的支援，不過有了 Hunter 會讓前場的深度增加並且在

Billy King 胡亂想交易 Hunter 並且又讓他回來，可以顯示他不知道如何解決七六人
內部的問題或如何重新開始。我不知道 Hunter 會不會希望他是跟另外一支球隊簽約。
