Iguodala staying put
Closer to home, Sixers coach Doug Collins and All-Star Andre
Iguodala are big advocates of Olympic participation and USA
Basketball. Collins, of course, played in the infamous 1972
games in Munich and is working for NBC as an analyst on its
basketball coverage. His son, Chris, is on the U.S. coaching
staff.

Meanwhile, Iguodala was a member of the U.S. under-18 team in
2002 and the World Championship team in 2010. It was with the
2010 team that Iguodala played for assistant coach Chris
Collins, meaning he was coached by the son before the father
joined the Sixers.

Actually, it appears as if Collins and Iguodala are going to
be together for the foreseeable future in Philadelphia, too.

According to a source, a trade involving Iguodala “won’t
happen” during the off-season. As a result of that, the Sixers
’ off-season tinkering to their roster is complete and aside
from a few free agents who get invitations to training camp,
the team is set.

Moreover, a report on HoopsWorld.com indicates that the Sixers
are actually building the team around Iguodala and that if any
move is to come regarding the Olympian, it would be in the
distant future.

As for London, Iguodala made his Olympic debut in the victory
over France, scoring one point and missing the only shot from
the field that he attempted. However, Iguodala had two
assists, a steal and a block in 11 minutes off the bench as
the team’s defensive stopper.
