轉貼一下在tennis.com上看到的報導。
The third and final wildcard for Madrid has been given to Albert Montanes,
following Juan Carlos Ferrero's decision to withdraw his name from
consideration when he was not named to the initial list of wildcards.
當Ferrero沒有被列在原本的外卡名單時，他從外卡的考慮名單中撤回自己的名字，
之後第三張外卡頒給了Albert Montanes。
Two of the wildcards were awarded to non-Spaniards, Marat Safin and Fabio
Fognini, and Ferrero criticized Madrid tournament director Manuel Santana for
allowing owner Ion Tiriac to influence the choice of wildcards. Tiriac is
Safin's manager.
其中兩張外卡頒給非西班牙人--Safin跟Fognini，Ferrero批評馬德里賽會總監Santana
允許Tiriac影響外卡人選，Tiriac是Safin的經紀人。
Carlos Moya, who ulitmately got direct entry, originally won the wildcard
traditionally awarded through a poll in the Spanish newspaper Marca. Other
poll nominees included Ernests Gulbis, Marcos Baghdatis, and Ivan Ljubicic –
no Spaniards apart from Moya were listed.
最終直接進入會內賽的Moya原本透過西班牙報紙Marca的投票獲得外卡。其他提名人選
包括Gulbis ,Baghdatis還有Ljubicic，
除了Moya之外沒有西班牙人在此候選名單中。
Santana said that Ferrero not been so "hasty," he would have received the
wildcard that opened up when Moya got directly into the draw. Santana
defended the other wildcard choices by saying Madrid was an "international
tournament."
Santana說要是Ferrero不這麼急，他會拿到Moya直接進入會內賽後留下的外卡。Santana
為其他外卡的選擇辯護說，Madrid是項國際賽事。
看到這句話覺得Santana對Ferrero真的很不尊重 ><
加上Santana說的一部分的話~(Reuters的報導)
"Moya won a popular vote and was four places off qualifying on his own
merits, and in the end entered because of withdrawals," he added.
"This is an international tournament. It is a business and the business has
the right to take decisions be they right or wrong. It's a shame because we
would have liked him to have played.
"Ferrero said he would not play even if we offered him an invitation so we
gave it to Montanes who is the Spaniard just below him in the rankings."
