Spurs' mistakes of the decade
It is hard to fault a franchise that was the best in all of pro sports in the
first decade of the 21st century, but not everything the Spurs did was genius.

Here is a recounting of missteps — some relatively minor and one that
continues to haunt:

Trading Luis Scola’s rights: This is the deal the Spurs likely wish they
could redo. Manu Ginobili’s best Argentine buddy would have been the perfect
complement to Tim Duncan in the low post. Sure, there were problems attendant
with buying him out of his Spanish contract, but the 2007 deal that sent his
rights, along with failed acquisition Jackie Butler, to the Rockets for
Vassilis Spanoulis haunts the Spurs and their fans every time Scola’s
high-energy dirty work helps the Rockets win another game. Would another
championship banner be hanging at the AT&T Center had Scola been around when
the Spurs played the Lakers in the 2008 Western finals? It’s the question
that gives R.C. Buford nightmares.

Champion Air: The charter air carrier the Spurs used for the 2007-08 season
had serial equipment problems, a fact chronicled by the Express-News before
the playoffs began. Nobody believed they were bad enough to make other flight
arrangements. Sitting on a New Orleans runway all night after their enormous
Game 7 win over the Hornets ruined their chances of a Game 1 win in L.A., a
victory that seemed possible until weary players ran out of gas in the final
period.
都是飛機惹的禍
07-08季後賽開打前Express-News報導了一件事:馬刺所承租的飛機公司有一大票裝備
的問題。沒人認為他們來得及換其他家公司。在他們對黃蜂血戰七場後贏的那整個晚上就
一直待在紐澳良機場跑道上耗時間，也毀掉了他們在對湖人的第一場比賽取勝的機會，一
場在系列賽中可能到手的勝利，卻因為球員們的疲累而耗盡氣力輸掉。
「先前我翻錯了，在這跟大家說聲抱歉。OS:加油!好嗎?」
Drafting Tiago Splitter: This one could have a happy ending, but the
presumption that the Spurs will have better luck signing Splitter away from
Tau Cerámica than they had buying out Scola now seems less than a slam dunk.
If he turns out to be another wasted pick, the post-Duncan era could be in
for a very rough start.

這件事可能有快樂的結局，但是在馬刺將Splitter從Tau Cerámica簽回來的假設下，
將會比起他們買斷沒有灌籃技能的Scola來得更幸運。若是他不鳥馬刺不會來，那麼後Dun-
