Lingering effects from a strained hamstring could keep new Spurs draft pick
James Anderson out of next month's summer league in Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the
Spurs couldn't keep second-year big man DeJuan Blair away if they tried.
Anderson's status will remain uncertain until Spurs doctors determine the
extent of his injury. The balky hamstring limited Anderson, a 6-foot-6 guard
from Oklahoma State, in pre-draft workouts — one reason he slid to the Spurs
at No. 20.

“Hamstrings are something you want to get healed,” general manager R.C.
Buford said. “We're not going to jeopardize a long-term injury (for) the
lights of Las Vegas.”

Initially, the Spurs were leaning toward keeping Blair home to focus on
individual workouts. Blair, an NBA All-Rookie selection last season, had
other plans.

“He wanted to play,” said Dell Demps, the Spurs' director of player
personnel and de facto GM of the summer league team. “The one good thing
about DeJuan is he wants to get better. For him to want to come play in this,
I think it says a lot about his commitment to getting better.”

The Spurs' squad, to be coached by lead assistant Mike Budenholzer, is
scheduled to play five games from July 12 to 18.

Though the roster has yet to be finalized, other expected participants
include Alonzo Gee, Malik Hairston, Garrett Temple and Curtis Jerrells —
 four players who finished last season on the Spurs' 15-man roster — as well
as this year's second-round pick Ryan Richards and 2008 second-rounder James
Gist.

No Trailblazing: Reports circulating Friday included Buford among possible
replacements for fired Portland general manager Kevin Pritchard, who was
fired by Blazers' owner Paul Allen before Thursday's draft.

Buford on Friday said he had not interviewed for the Portland job and had no
plans to do so.

“It looks like you're stuck with me until (Spurs chairman) Peter (Holt) gets
tired of me,” Buford said.

The only change in the Spurs' player personnel department may involve one of
Buford's assistants. Assistant GM Dennis Lindsey is expected to soon visit
Phoenix to speak with Suns officials about that team's vacant GM job.

No-go on De Colo? The impending arrival of Anderson could delay the NBA debut
of Nando de Colo for another season.

De Colo, a Spurs' second-round pick in 2009, thrived in the Spanish League
last season. Thursday's selection of Anderson contributed to a logjam of
young perimeter players on the Spurs' roster, making it unlikely the team
will buy out de Colo's contract this summer.

Anderson的即將到來可能會讓Nando de Colo的NBA初登板再延個一季。

2009年第二輪的De Colo上一季在西班牙聯賽有不錯的表現，
星期四選秀會上的選擇讓他的位子又少了一個，
因此今夏不太可能會看到馬刺買斷他原本的合約。




所以這代表Ryan Richards會在NBDL養嗎?
