After reports the San Antonio Spurs and their 2007 NBA Draft pick, Tiago
Splitter, reached an agreement, some Spurs fans might still be holding their
breath waiting to see if this is true. It seems Spurs fans can exhale.

After 10 years in the ACB League, the Brazilian power forward has decided to
take the plunge and go to the NBA, where he was elected in 2007 at number 28
in the first round of draft.

According to Gery Woelfel of The Journal-Times, the “Shaquille O’Neal to
Spurs rumor is heating up. He would fit in nicely with their system.”
The big question is about the price. O’Neal still thinks he deserves a big
contract but the Spurs, who already are above the cap, can’t make him a huge
offer.

Shaquille O’Neal’s first choice is to join the San Antonio Spurs for one
final run at a fifth NBA title, and he wants to play two more seasons before
retiring, a source told FanHouse on Wednesday.
The source said O’Neal said the Spurs and Atlanta are at the top of his list
since there is interest with those teams on both sides. FanHouse’s Tim
Povtak reported Monday the link between O’Neal and the Hawks, and there were
indications from San Antonio on Wednesday that the Spurs do indeed have
interest.

在墨西哥的蜜月之旅過後，Splitter與他的新婚妻子於星期六晚上抵達SA。根據mySA的
M.Monroe的推特

進行體檢。如果通過體檢，馬刺將支付給Splitter原母隊Baskonia $500K，其餘的買斷費
由去年薪水$1.76M的Splitter吸收，接下來就等買斷合約的新聞公開宣佈了。
另外，不久前才從夏季聯盟名單排除的Hairston可以把馬刺的這項舉動視為對他的恭維
了。身為08梯的老鳥，職業生涯都在馬刺體系的馬刺隊&奧斯丁公牛中度過。

The Spurs released their official announcement regarding Tiago Splitter at
about 3:10 p.m.:
"The San Antonio Spurs today announced they have signed Tiago Splitter. The
25-year-old Splitter was selected by the Spurs with the 28th overall pick in
the 2007 NBA Draft. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not
announced."

Update: Mike Monroe reports Splitter's contract is for three years and for
$11 million total starting at $3.4 million.

The Spurs have called a 3 p.m. press conference this afternoon. Unless it's
to announce that the AT&T Center is changing its concessions from Coke to
Pepsi, it's safe to say the Spurs have at long last signed their 2007
first-round draft pick.
Tiago Splitter will be wearing silver and black next season.

Splitter, the 6-foot-11 Brazilian selected 28th overall three Junes ago, is
widely regarded as the top big man in Europe. Depending on who you talk to,
he might be the best player, period. He's big, and long, an excellent
rebounder and natural shot blocker.

summer armed with the mid-level exception. The last Spanish League MVP

than Scola, it would be reasonable to expect a similar contribution.

the NBA,” Spurs general manager R.C. Buford said before introducing Splitter.

Finally bringing Splitter aboard was an offseason target for the Spurs after
