An old coaching adage says that a team that lives by the jump shot eventually
will die by it.

That was the case for the Spurs Friday night, when cold shooting in the
fourth quarter bit them in the fourth quarter and paved the way for their
first loss in the month of November.

The hot shooting that has been a key part of the 12-game winning streak
vanished in the fourth quarter, when San Antonio hit only 36.8 percent from
the field and went without a field goal for more than four minutes during a
critical stretch where the Mavericks took control.

Those struggles came as Dallas torched them for 72.2 percent shooting as the
Mavericks missed only five of 18 shots in the fourth quarter. The Mavericks
used a 14-2 run down the stretch after taking control with an 11-3 run
earlier in the quarter.

Teams can’t survive those runs against good teams and the Spurs were no
exception. It eventually got them, leading to their second loss of the
season.

entertaining battle between two of the league’s best teams.

‧ A quick show of hands from all who thought that Tyson Chandler’s foul
shooting would be a difference in the game. Chandler hit 13 of 16 foul shots
to help cement the victory. His previous high this season was  6 of 9 against
Chicago and he matched his previous career high of 16 attempts set on Nov. 5,
2003.

‧ After ranking among the top teams in field-goal percentage earlier this
week, the Spurs again struggled shooting the ball. The Spurs clanked through
a 39.8 percent night from the field against Minnesota, the Spurs shot 44.9
percent against Dallas. And they will face a tough challenge Sunday against
New Orleans, a team that was tied for fifth in field-goal percentage defense
(43.5 percent).

馬刺前幾天命中率在聯盟中居於頂尖,這次卻又投得很掙扎
對灰狼的時候是破爛的39.8%,對小牛也只有44.9%
而他們禮拜天對到防守(對手)命中率第五的黃蜂將會面對艱難的挑戰

‧ The Spurs had trouble matching up with Dallas’ length throughout the
game. Gregg Popovich went with a small lineup down the stretch with Manu
Ginobili playing small forward and Richard Jefferson at the power forward
slot and Tim Duncan inside. It still didn’t work as Dirk Nowitzki hit all
three shots and Shawn Marion went 5-for-7 in the final quarter. San Antonio’
s inside players were limited to two points in the fourth quarter — a
put-back by Antonio McDyess with 6:23 left.

‧ Two stalwarts early in the season struggled through their worst games.
Tony Parker was limited to a season-low nine points with four turnovers and
one assist – his lowest assist total in a complete game since last Feb. 25.
And Jefferson’s shooting touch disappeared as scored a season-low two points
with no field goals in four attempts – fewest field goals in a game he
started since last Jan. 16 at Memphis.

Jefferson was shooting 57 percent from the floor until three games ago. Over
the past three games,, Jefferson is shooting 28 percent at 8-for-29.

Those two players have been among the Spurs’ three most valuable players
this season. So when both have bad nights on the same night, it usually doesn
’t bode well.

‧ Maybe it was all the Thanksgiving food he ate yesterday, but George Hill
had his best game of the season with 21 points, hitting all eight foul shots.
He also was the most active defender for San Antonio, picking up three of the
Spurs’ six steals including one that turned a hoop that ended up as their
final lead of the game.

大概感恩節晚餐Hill吃很飽,打出了本季個人最佳21分兼八罰全中
他也是最活躍的防守人,一手包辦全隊6次抄截的三次
其中一次為馬刺帶來最後一次的領先

‧ Duncan had 15 points and a team-best eight rebounds, but struggled in the
fourth quarter with only one shot, no points and one rebound.

TD 15分和全隊最佳8籃板,但是第四節很掙扎.一投零分一籃板......

‧ Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle praised Ginobili as playing as well as any
big guard in the league this season. That praise was understandable after
watching him slice through the Mavericks for 16 points in the first quarter
en route to a game-high 31. But the tenor of the game changed when Ginobili
went to the locker room with a bloody nose late in the third quarter. He
returned to score nine points, but missed a couple of 3-pointers that could
have brought San Antoino back into the game.

但是Manu第三節鼻子流血回休息室後就不一樣了
他回來以後得9分,但是幾個可以挽回局勢的三分miss了

‧ Gary Neal continues to get minutes, althought he was a little haphazard
with the ball Friday night. Neal scored five points including a 3-pointer,
but had three turnovers — all in the second half.

Neal依然有分到上場時間,但是禮拜五晚上他打得很亂
得了5分含一顆三分,但是有三個失誤還都在下半場

‧ The Spurs had trouble moving the ball throughout the game, leading to a
season-low 13 assists. That statistic has to be exasperating for the Spurs
coaches after notching a season-best 32 against Cleveland less than a week
ago and following that up with 25 in the next game against Orlando.

馬刺整場導球都很難,導致本季最低13助攻
這個統計肯定讓教練很不爽,
因為不到一個禮拜前對騎士有本季最高32助攻,接著對魔術也有25!

‧ The Mavericks’  transition play was important in the first half, paving
the way for an 18-10 edge in fast break points. But the Spurs did a better
job to stop the running game in the second half, as both teams were even at
eight transition points apiece.

小牛上半場的攻守轉換很重要,快攻得分18比10占優
馬刺下半場比較有止住跑動攻勢了,兩隊快攻平分秋色都8分
