After a short flight home from what was a disappointing loss in Houston on
Sunday night, the Spurs took Monday off as a day of rest and recovery.

Hell Week has arrived at the AT&T Center, with the Spurs steeled for a brutal
homestand against three of the NBA’s top six teams sure to test both their
grip on the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and their preparedness for
the playoffs.

The Denver Nuggets arrive on Wednesday fresh off a 15-game winning streak
that ended Monday in New Orleans. By the time LeBron James and Miami come to
town Easter Sunday, the Heat could be eyeing consecutive victory No. 30.

首先是才剛創下15連勝的丹佛金塊將在周三晚上來訪(但才剛在客場輸給黃蜂結束連勝)，
接者是目前正在尋求27連勝的LeBron James及他的熱火在復活節的禮拜天來訪，當天如果

In between, the Spurs face a Los Angeles Clippers squad that earlier his
season rattled off 17 wins in a row.

we’re not playing that well.”

It is an end-of-March gantlet that feels like some kind of NBA-sanctioned
fraternity hazing prank.

With Oklahoma City lurking two games back in the loss column, this could be
the telltale week in the Spurs’ quest to retain the West’s top seed.

Denver’s franchise-best streak, which began Feb. 23 in Charlotte, catapulted

Miami’s streak, which kicked off Feb. 3 at Toronto, hit 27 and counting with

Spurs in the hunt for the league’s top mark.

The Clippers are a pedestrian 24-16 since their streak went belly up New Year
’s Day in Denver but still own the league’s fifth-best mark.

The Spurs have won four of their last five and came within one defensive
stand in Houston of entering Wednesday’s game on a tear of their own. But
they are still trying to re-establish the momentum they had before All-Star
point guard Tony Parker sprained his ankle March 2.

streak.

you start realizing what you’re doing, and it kind of goes from there.”

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich downplays the significance of a winning streak,
deeming it superfluous to the pursuit of a championship. But he acknowledges
streaks require a certain tunnel vision to accomplish.

“You just keep playing,” Popovich said. “If you win a whole lot in a row,
you win a whole lot in a row. Then you play the next game as if you’ve lost
four or five in a row.”

Every long winning streak comes with its share of near-misses. For win No.

Cleveland. Denver’s streak would have ended at 13 if not for Corey Brewer’s
six-points-in-9.2-seconds act that salvaged a win over Philadelphia last week.

For the Spurs to survive Hell Week still atop the West, they know they will
have to do better than simply dealing out close calls.

“It’s going to be a tough week,” Ginobili said. “Hopefully, we start to
do better and have a successful week.”
