He is not stupid! He is a math genius and he just has trouble
communicating with people.
The real John Nash is way more complex than the screen version played
by Russel Crow.
John Nash did not hallucinate people. He believed
that angels and aliens talked to him.
In his biography, it was stated clearly so; besides, prior to his marriage to Alicia Larde
(played by Jennifer Connelly), he had homosexual relationship and an affair with a woman,
the latter produced an illegitimate child.
Alicia actually divorced him, but they remained living under one roof till present day.
One thing I dislike about the movie was that the plot was changed to a fictitious level.
At this point the real story was no longer important. So John Nash got a Nobel prize,
for what? His work in equilibrium theory? That was like 40 years ago he derived that.
After that thesis he was too busy struggling with schizophrenia, thus he made no
other research. So the movie is about schizophrenia? No. The screenplay and the
director (namely Ron Howard, who ruined "The Grinch") did not concern about
presenting schizophrenia honestly; instead they change the hallucination into some freaking
spy story. I admit that if the movie just followed the original "angel talkin to Nash" story,
nobody would go into the theater, but they were making a wrong idea about Schizophrenia.
BTW, Russell Crow did a great job playing Nash, and he was wonderful in the movie,
I just hate it when the story was told in the wrong way.
