這句話經過"變形"處理
整句話的主幹只有 Not a single pebble was found.
而後面的that might have indicated that the pebbles came from the
nearby continent 是用來形容主幹裡的pebble
整句話還原起來是這樣子
Not a single pebble (that might have indicated that the pebbles came
from the nearby continent) was found.
因為這個形容詞子句實在太長了 所以才把它掉到後面去
另外ETS很機車故意用兩個that來增加閱讀的負擔 如果作文課寫這樣的句子
老師會說請把第一個that 改成 which
