Which kind of final examination would you choose at the end of a semester?
1. Research paper;
2. Oral exam; or
3. Paper examination
Use reasons and examples in your response.
期末的時候，你會選擇下列哪一種期末考方式？
1. 研究報告；
2. 口試；或
3. 筆試。
請用理由與例子來解釋你的想法。
解題思路：
選擇: 就我個人而言，我期末會想要口試。
Personally speaking, I would like to choose oral exam for my final.
理由一: 我相信這將給我一個寶貴的機會練習我的演講與溝通技巧。
I believe it will provide me a valuable opportunity to practice my public
speaking and communication skills.
理由二: 除了語言的挑戰之外，我也需要練習非語言的部分，像是眼神接觸與身體語言，
以讓我吸引聽者的注意力並把我想說的話傳達出去。
In addition to the verbal challenge, I also need to work on the non-verbal
parts, such as eye contact and body language, in order to attract the listeners
attention and get my message across.
高分範例：
就我個人而言，我期末會想要口試，因為我相信這將給我一個寶貴的機會練習我的演講與溝
通技巧。對我來說，寫一份好報告非常簡單。然而，口試要好，我得想一想要如何把我的文
字資料轉為不會讓觀眾無聊的口說用語。除了語言的挑戰之外，我也需要練習非語言的部分
，像是眼神接觸與身體語言，以讓我吸引聽者的注意力並把我想說的話傳達出去。這些能力
在職場都非常重要。

Your university is going to give out a scholarship of $5,000. Who do you think
should receive the scholarship? Students with high academic performance or
students that need financial aids?
Please include reasons and details in your explanation.
你的大學準備發放五千美元的獎學金。你認為誰應該得到獎學金？學業表現優秀的學生？
還是需要經濟援助的學生？
請使用確切的理由與細節來解釋。
解題思路：
選擇: 就我個人而言，我認為經濟上需要幫助的學生應該得到這筆獎學金。
Personally speaking, I think financially needy students should receive the
scholarship.
理由一: 如果一個聰明又上進的學生因為父母沒有錢而不能上大學，會很可惜。
It’ll be a pity if a really bright and motivated student can’t go to college
because his parents don’t have enough money.
理由二：雖然有些人也許會說，學業表現優秀的學生應該也要拿到鼓勵性的獎學金，但這些
人忽略了一件事—階級複製。
Although some people may argue that students with outstanding academic
performance should also receive scholarship as an encouragement, these people
ignore one thing—social reproduction.
高分範例：
就我個人而言，我認為經濟上需要幫助的學生應該得到這筆獎學金。理由很簡單。大學教育
很貴。如果一個聰明又上進的學生因為父母沒有錢而不能上大學，會很可惜。雖然有些人也
許會說，學業表現優秀的學生應該也要拿到鼓勵性的獎學金，但這些人忽略了一件事-階級
複製。舉例來說，美國的一流大學裡，大多數學生都來自富裕的家庭，很少是來自貧窮的家
庭。對於出身貧寒的學生來說，這筆獎學金可以幫他們繼續念大學，但對於有錢人家的小孩
來說，這不過只是錦上添花。
