二、Manufacturers shipped more smartphones than personal computers in the
fourth quarter of 2010, according to research, crowning mobile devices as the
computing platform of choice earlier than many industry-watchers had expected.
Analysts had expected smartphones to take the lead at some point in 2011, but
the transition happened more quickly as a wide range of manufacturers of
mobile devices embraced Android, the malleable open-source operating system
from Google.
三、多益英檢文法重點:
1. surpass(V):超越，manufacturer(N):製造商，ship(V):運送，personal computer:桌
上型電腦，簡稱PC或desktop，quarter(N):季(時間)、25分(錢)或1/4，crown(V):使…成
王，device(N):設備，computing(adj):運算的，watcher(N):觀察家，expect(V):預期，
take the lead:領先，transition(N):轉變，embrace(V):擁抱，malleable(adj):可塑性
。
2. crwon(N):皇冠，to crown something as:使某物(人)成為王或是最吸引人的，通常以
被動式(be PP+ with)表示，例如: Their efforts on research of flu was crowned
with success. 他們在流感研究上的努力終於導致成功。
3. a wide range of N:大批的，相似的還有 a wide of variety(多樣式的)，a wide
of 則是指(長度)多寬的意思。
(1) The company provides a wide range of products for consumers.(這家公司提供
消費者各式各樣的產品選擇。)
(2) Within a wide of 300 km there is nothing else but open sea around this
area.這個地區寬3百公里的距離之內，除了一片海之外甚麼都沒有。
4.embrace(V):擁抱，迎接，brace(V):做好準備，bracelet(N):手鐲。
5. surpass(V):超越，另一字為surplus(N):剩(盈)餘，surface(N):表面，
surreal(adj):超越現實的，survive(V):存活下來，所以記得"sur"有超越的意思。
