你的問題在於太簡化 for + N 和 for + Ving 的差別。
總觀而言有三種情形:
(1) 只能 (或者更嚴謹來說「偏向」) 用for + N
(2) 同時可用 for + N 及 for + Ving
(3) 只能 (或者更嚴謹來說「偏向」) 用 for + Ving
基本差別在於 for + N 偏「靜態」， for + Ving 偏「動態」(所以叫動名詞)。
但是不要只憑這樣下判斷，畢竟要考量到字詞的搭配，所以更實際的做法是找出
"for confirmation that" 的搭配 [1] [2] [3] [4]。
